KRAUTSYNTH
After digging through crates of Italo-disco, they somehow found their way back to antiquity – and now they’re singing in Latin. But not the cringe-worthy kitchen-Latin of the abominable Era, no – this is the good, old-school Latin, straight from Erasmus. They even recruited a neo-Latinist to sequence their ancient adages just right. When asked why? They said: “To keep things mysterious, to send cryptic messages, and to immerse ourselves in a language from another time, like medieval scribes.” With long, harmonic progressions led by soprano Angèle Chemin and multi-talented Laura Etchegoyhen, they’ve created a hypnotic sonic ritual where mysticism dances with euphoria.
SHOEGAZE / DREAM-POP
In Belgium, it’s not just the sky that’s hazy – Newmoon bursts onto the scene with a shoegaze sound that engulfs you from the first note. Imagine layers of reverb piling up like waves, blending the ethereal melodies of Slowdive with the raw power of Sunn O))) or Smashing Pumpkins. Their latest album, Temporary Light, released in March 2024, is a sonic cocktail where the abrasive meets the dreamy, an aural trip that lifts you up while shaking you down. Newmoon captures the moment while transporting you elsewhere – a sound journey as nostalgic as it is fresh.
INDUS / MINIMAL / TECHNO
Cesar Palace is Vincent Redel, the drummer from Electric Electric, a band now existing solely within the pharaonic supergroup La Colonie de Vacances. On stage, he turns his setup into a sonic laboratory where minimalism meets trance. With just his drums and a few effects pedals, he crafts percussive soundscapes that plunge you into a world that’s both hypnotic and frenetic. His influences, ranging from contemporary music to '90s techno, combine to offer a musical experience that leaves you breathless, your heart racing. Watch out!
NOISE-ROCK THING
A noise rock trio with two guitars constantly interrupted by a relentless, shape-shifting drumbeat, and a voice that’s fighting to break through. This cry for help hails from Strasbourg, with Marlon Saquet, formerly of Partout Partout, sounding the alarm. We’ve been warned: this music doesn’t quite run straight – and that’s exactly how it should be.
AMBIENT
Led by Simon Sockeel, La Houle initially explored noisy and pop formations, notably with the album La Chute, a sinuous and introspective work released in 2021. But today, Simon is venturing into calmer, more immersive waters with a captivating ambient universe. Inspired by the seascape paintings of his grandfather Lionel, he composes ethereal, repetitive music recorded on trusty old 4-track cassette machines, inviting quiet contemplation. Each performance becomes a dive into a sonic ocean, where magnetic waves wrap around you, drawing you into a timeless meditation.
INSTRUMENTARIUM / GAMELAN
Marteaux Collective is a minimalist music workshop open to everyone, with no musical prerequisites. Inspired by the Balinese gamelan, this co-creation project explores a unique social and musical practice, where everyone finds their place in a minimalist, collective aesthetic. Florian Borojevic (100%chevalier, Partout Partout) has built a "post-industrial gamelan" from construction and recycled materials, reinterpreting this ancient tradition with a modern twist. Marteaux Collective offers a fresh take on creation, inviting the audience to actively participate in the artistic process. At the end of the workshops, participants will join the project for a concert at La Grenze and during the October Tone Parties at Molodoï. If you’d like to be part of the adventure, contact Florian Borojevic: florian.borojevic@gmail.com - 06 79 02 18 11.
NEO-PEREO / GIRLY POP / REGGAETON
The DJ sets of Capricciosa Baby ooze the warmth of melted sugar, sticky yet smooth, undulating and fluttering. Calling all babes of every kind – this bubble of joy and sweat is just for you!
